I'm guessing they made it small enough to be playable but big enough to fit the minifigures in it. (Personal I bought this set more for the minifigs.) Second, I think Lego designed the ship that way. First of all, to be blunt, why are buying a this set if you think its inaccurate. Some people are complaining about how the ship scale isn't accurate to the minifigures. The minifigures are awesome except I think Hunters face should be a bit lighter.
